Founded in 1999, Brooke’s Place is celebrating 25 years of providing critical grief support programs in Central Indiana for children, teens, young adults and their families. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced advancement director to lead our development and marketing efforts in order to successfully fulfill our mission of empowering children, teens, young adults and their families to thrive in the midst of grief.

Advancement Director, Brooke’s Place
The Brooke’s Place Advancement Director will report to the Executive Director and serve as a key member of the senior management team responsible for driving contributed revenue efforts, including annual fund, major gifts, planned and deferred giving, sponsorships, campaigns, and special events. in conjunction with the Executive Director and the advancement staff members, specific emphasis will be placed on the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual and corporate donors and family foundations.
The Brooke’s Place Advancement Director, in conjunction with the advancement team, will help broaden the scope of the organization's advancement program, and diversify its gift and revenue sources, thereby increasing the organization's impact and ability to serve more grieving children.
Key responsibilities:
• In collaboration with the Executive Director, develop and implement a multi-year strategic fundraising plan for Brooke’s Place that will diversify gift and revenue sources and meet development financial targets
• Plan and oversee the work of the Advancement Committee; Recommend best practices and support procedures that empower Board members to better support their community ambassadorship and fundraising roles
• Hire and supervise advancement team members
• In partnership with the Executive Director, serve as a visible advocate for the mission and vision of Brooke’s Place
• Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of corporate partners, individual donors, family foundations, not only to contribute but to increase giving. This will include making direct, face-to-face solicitations.
• Research and initiate relationships with prospective funder sources
• Improve focus and design of recurring individual and major gifts programs, including planned giving efforts
• Direct the marketing initiatives implemented by Brooke’s Place as it relates to messaging, social media strategies, and work plan objectives and action steps as outlined in the strategic plan
• Utilize the Brooke’s Place Customer Relationship Management Software to document interactions with donors, research donors, and validate donor entries as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
• 5-7 years of experience in development and fundraising
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Fundraising or related field or comparable experience
• Flexible, multitasking and strong prioritization skills
• Proven ability to plan and execute successful multi-year fundraising strategies
• Demonstrable experience meeting annual fund goals and securing major gifts from individuals, corporations, family foundations, and other revenue sources
• Experience working with top executive and board leadership
• Supervisory experience
• Strong communication skills, including written/email and spoken/phone with the ability to actively listen to constituents and donors to focus on donor needs and determine mutually beneficial agreements/partnerships
• Successful track record of meeting deadlines, project management and creative problem solving
• Committed to ethical practices in fundraising and a high level of integrity
• Computer literate (proficient in Microsoft applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; Customer Relationship Management software experience is a plus)
