Job Summary:
The Elementary After School Staff is responsible for supervising and assisting children in the after-school care program. This position includes providing a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for students, ensuring they engage in academic, recreational, and social activities after the regular school day ends.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of children during after-school hours, maintaining a positive and welcoming atmosphere.

• Activity Planning & Participation: Lead and assist in structured activities, including arts and crafts, games, homework assistance, and outdoor activities.

• Homework Assistance: Provide support for students with homework and academic tasks in a quiet, structured space.

• Behavior Management: Foster a positive environment by enforcing rules, managing behavior, and resolving conflicts in a constructive manner.

• Communication: Maintain clear communication with parents and school staff about any relevant student concerns or updates.

• Snack/Meal Assistance: Help children with snack time or meals, ensuring proper hygiene and health safety standards.

• Clean-Up: Assist in keeping the program area clean and organized at all times.

• Emergency Response: Act in accordance with school safety procedures in case of emergencies, including first aid or contacting emergency services when necessary.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (some college coursework in education or child development preferred).

• Experience working with groups of children, especially in an elementary school or after-school setting, is preferred.

• Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to maintain a calm demeanor and positive attitude.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Must pass background check and other applicable screenings.
  
   

  Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, and engage in light physical activity (e.g., assisting children with games, playing sports, or walking) for extended periods.

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds (e.g., bags, supplies).

• Ability to react quickly to emergencies or changes in the environment.
