Position Summary:
Assists the CDC Project Manager with daily operations to ensure that
mail distribution services are provided per the Statement of Work.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Understands and has an above average working knowledge of the
scope of work to be performed for the contractor
- Maintains the same level of knowledge of federal regulations, laws
and protocols for screening incoming mail addressed to federal agencies.
- Provide guidance and expert advice to management on technical,
systems, or process related topics.
- Ensures all employees perform assigned duties to meet all contract
requirements, including, but not limited to, mail pick-up, sorting
and delivery.
- Studies and creates standardized procedures to improve efficiency
of operations and work performance
- Serve as a backup for mail clerks when they are absent.
- Perform administrative duties such as maintaining information
files and processing paperwork.
- In conjunction with the Project Manager, prepare and posts work
schedules. Adjusts schedules and obtains back up coverage as needed.
- Provides training which may include visual, written and/or oral
instructions or a combination thereof.
- Trains all employees and follow all safety protocols with regard
to operations, vehicles, and maintenance requirements.
- As directed by the Project Manager, assigns duties, examines work
for accuracy, timeliness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
- Responsible for ordering monthly supplies and maintaining inventory.
- Provides feedback to the Project Manager on all personnel,
performance and/or operational matters.
- Randomly checks amount of postage computed for outgoing mail
according to weight and classification for accuracy and cost effectiveness.
- Conducts inspection, follow-ups, inquiries, observation, and by
verification of individual subordinate reports, to verify: all
outgoing mail is processed on the same day as received; all
misrouted mail reaches its destination within 2 working days after
receipt; resolution of all complaints within 24 hours of receipt;
and all mailstops are completed per contract specifications.
- Conduct interviews & candidate selection for open positions.
- Cross train with Program Support Service’ Regional Office at the
Sam Nunn Building / MLK Building.
- Prepares composite reports to document actions completed.
- Immediately reports to the Project Manager, CDC and Health and
Safety the receipt of hazardous biological materials.
- Follows all security/safety required protocols as required by
contractor, employer, and Scope of Work.
- Researches and reports any problems in meeting terms of contract
immediately to the Project Manager/ Project Officer.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience with mail screening and mail operations facilities.
- Must pass PIV Clearance
- Ability to lift up to a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Good computer skills.
- Must be CPR/First Aid certified.
- Must have a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Must pass drug screen and background check.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
Education:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent knowledge and experience

- Ability to organize work area, supply room and maintain data for
required reports.

- Ability to meet contract office requirement standards and
prescribed deadlines.
- Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.

Equipment
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word Excel and
PowerPoint applications. Also, Microsoft Outlook and Windows.
- Working knowledge of telephones, copy and fax machines and mail
metering equipment.

- Ability to think clearly and multitask.
Physical Requirements:
- Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body.
- Be able to reach overhead.
- Be able to work in various positions, including, but not limited
to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and
squatting for extended periods of time.
- Be able to handle, lift, pull and push materials and equipment to
complete assigned job tasks.
- Be able to handle mail bags, mail hampers, and packages often
weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Good hand dexterity. Ability to make precisely coordinated
movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate,
or assemble small objects.
- Good eyesight.
Visual Effort:
- Well-lit office environment requiring average amount of visual effort.
- Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet).
Safety:
- Follows all prescribed safety regulations to diminish accidents.
- Understanding of OSHA safety requirements.
- Knowledge of evacuation procedures and the whereabouts of exits
and fire extinguishers.
- Immediately report circumstances you consider may present a hazard
to yourself and others.
- Report any accident whether minor or major.
Security
- Must abide by all security regulations of the facility.
- Must obtain and wear a photo ID.
