Job Description

Basic Function

Partners with business stakeholders to establish, develop and drive multi-year vision and strategies for key categories. Focuses on Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) to ensure that key suppliers meet the company's business needs through effective performance, risk, and relationship management. Utilizes the strategic sourcing process to execute category plans, leveraging volumes for the best total cost. Drives a holistic approach to supplier selection, considering delivery, quality, service, cost and innovation.

Job Duties

  • Cultivates strong relationships with key business stakeholders to understand and align with the short- and long-term goals and needs related to the assigned category, including demand, quality expectations, delivery requirements, and cost considerations.
  • Reviews comprehensive spend analysis to gain a detailed understanding of current spend segmentation for assigned categories.
  • Performs market research and benchmarking for assigned categories, developing a comprehensive category management plan that includes risk assessment, market trends, supply base analysis, cost structures, and competitive landscape.
  • Designs, implements, and manages multi-year strategic plans to address business needs for assigned categories.
  • Identifies and manages a portfolio of strategic opportunities within the assigned categories.
  • Plans, designs, executes, and oversees strategic sourcing activities with suppliers across various categories.
  • Collaborates with relevant teams to negotiate and finalize category-specific contracts.
  • Develops and manages Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) to ensure key suppliers meet business requirements effectively.
  • Coordinates with Strategic Sourcing Specialists to ensure supplier commitments are fulfilled according to contractual agreements.
  • Promotes cross-site buy-in and adherence to category strategies, fostering continuous improvement.
  • Monitors and validates price adjustments, communicating changes to relevant stakeholders and providing pricing forecasts as needed.
  • Develops cost models to facilitate cost component comparisons during supplier negotiations.

 

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

Experience

A minimum of five (5) years of procurement, supply chain, category management, strategic sourcing or contract management experience, or related project management and industry experience, is required.

 

Preferred Experience:

A minimum of two (2) years' experience in the oil and gas industry is preferred.

Education Level

A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or other related discipline, is required.

 

Preferred Education:

A Master's Degree in Business Administration is preferred.

Strong project management skills and ability to multi-task complex requirements. Strong written and verbal communications skills. Strong analytical skills. Good spreadsheet, database and word processing applications knowledge; the ability to effectively communicate with all levels; advanced reading and writing skills; excellent negotiating, interpersonal, time-management and organizational skills; proficient in procurement, cost containment, contract management and reviewing contract language; ability to learn quickly; versatile; ability to effectively lead, coach and direct the work of other associates; ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

May directly supervise one (1) or more Category Specialists, Category Analysts, or Procurement Specialists.

Work Conditions

Office-based with travel up to 20% of time by land and air. Eligible for Flex Schedule 9/80 option.
