Job Description:

  • We are hiring an experienced Compliance Counsel within the client's Compliance Office.

  • This person will help implement the Company's Ethics & Compliance strategy and program, assisting in compliance operations, policy, and initiatives.

The holder of this role will:

  • assist in responding to fast-moving developments and compliance problems, often requiring a multi-faceted solution and collaboration across a matrixed organization in time-sensitive situations.

  • Give legal advice in connection with compliance matters, particularly involving application of the Corrupt Practices Act, and in collaboration with colleagues handling anti-money laundering, international trade, antitrust, national security, and human rights matters.

  • Apply sound legal judgment to address gray areas and interpret and apply the law.

  • Gather and analyse data to look for patterns and trends; use data to make data-driven, risk based decisions

  • Prepare verbal / written presentations and written reports about compliance activities and operations, including status and progress for a variety of audiences

  • The candidate should have: a law degree from an accredited law school and good standing in a state bar

  • experience handling anti-corruption, fraud, anti-terrorism, anti-money laundering, and other compliance topics

  • Experience with an ethics and compliance program, including policies and procedures; third party management; data analysis; gifts, entertainment and hospitality reviews; transaction reviews for compliance concerns; risk assessments; monitoring and testing; and other compliance program hallmarks

  • Experience in-house at a multi-national company or at a law firm advising multi-national businesses

  • Fluency in English

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, writing and presentation skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • The ability to independently handle and lead sophisticated matters, as well as manage multiple matters at one time

  • Experience in-house at a multi-national company or at a law firm advising multi-national businesses

  • Fluency in English; Spanish or Portuguese language skills are a plus

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, writing and presentation skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • The ability to independently handle and lead sophisticated matters, as well as manage multiple matters at one time

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about scoping, handling, and resolving complex problems; success in driving projects to completion

  • Comfort with ambiguity and willingness to dive in and learn new subject matters and respond to new problems

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others across an organization and achieve goals

  • Skills to excel in fast-moving, high-pressure situations

  • Government experience, including experience interacting with regulators, particularly in the client location is preferred
