We are currently seeking to hire a Creative Video Producer. In this role, you will handle the management and daily video operations of post-production video for the Department of Athletics. You will be responsible for creating high-end features and stories that evoke emotion and convey a specific message, while providing creative input for post-production video branding needs. It is expected that you will serve as the lead for digital capturing and production and will interface with various internal and external constituencies including, but not limited to, Marketing, Communications, and the Owl Club. You will play an integral role in creating game day tunnel/hype videos, feature stories, commercials, and other content for all athletics in-venue video boards and digital platform needs. The ideal candidate will possess experience in filming and film editing, an interest in athletics, and a willingness to work collaboratively within the Athletics Department and the Rice University community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and/or edit raw video into a finalized format for a variety of web, broadcast, and other communications projects and outlets
  • Determine audio, music, and visual effects necessary to complete videos, arranges video clips into sequences, and uses editing equipment
  • Transcode raw digital video into editable file formats, organizes and archives video footage, and maintains and catalogs all productions
  • Set up and operate audio and video equipment such as microphones, lighting, video cameras, etc., depending on specific projects
  • Coordinate inventory of all audio and video equipment
  • Conceptualize, record, and edit professional video and motion graphics packages to serve the department’s branding objectives
  • Support marketing campaigns through the development of video packages for online platforms that promote ticket sales, fundraising campaigns, upcoming events, and/or additional department initiatives
  • Lead initiatives that showcase and promote the student-athlete experience and provide inside access to further a personal connection with fans
  • Serve as the staff resource for the latest in video style, production, resolution, and mobile-compatibility strategy
  • Hire, train, and supervise students and interns
  • Comply with all Rice University, Athletic Department, AAC, and NCAA regulations
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1+ year of experience working with filming, video production, and/or film editing
  • Technical experience using digital media equipment, video creation, editing software, and/or digital media control software
  • Knowledge of production techniques including videography, compression, and file delivery
  • Knowledge of camera, lighting, sound, and editing
  • Understanding of the online video environment and online distribution
  • Ability to adapt equipment setup and provide alternative setups or workarounds if necessary
  • Interpersonal skills, judgment, and diplomacy required to interact effectively with and provide customer service to a broad audience
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Time management skills
