Desktop Administrator

Description:

We are seeking a skilled Desktop Administrator to manage, maintain, and support our organization's desktop systems. This role involves provisioning new desktop systems, supporting existing hardware and software, and ensuring all desktop environments are optimized for performance and security.

Key responsibilities include:
Desktop Provisioning: setting up new desktops, laptops, and peripherals; configuring hardware, software, and network; deploying virtual desktop infrastructure; managing imaging and software deployment with automation tools and scripts; performing user data migration.

End-User Support: providing remote and on-site hardware, application, and network support; troubleshooting operating system, software, and hardware issues; managing IT service tickets.

System Installation and Maintenance: installing, configuring, and updating operating systems and applications; monitoring systems for performance and compliance; conducting maintenance and diagnostics.

User Account Management: managing user accounts with Active Directory or similar; participating in onboarding and offboarding processes.

Security & Compliance: enforcing security policies for desktops; conducting audits; ensuring compliance with security standards.

Documentation and Reporting: keeping detailed documentation; preparing support activity reports.

Collaboration: working with IT teams on integration and projects.

Requirements:

Proficient with Windows and macOS operating systems, hardware components, and software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).

Strong understanding of desktop provisioning tools (e.g., Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, SCCM, imaging tools).

Familiarity with virtual desktop technologies (VMware, Citrix).

Knowledge of networking fundamentals and desktop security practices (VPN, firewall, endpoint security).

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills for user and team support.

Ability to document processes clearly.

2-4 years of experience in desktop administration, IT support, or a related field.

Experience with desktop provisioning and managing large-scale deployments is a plus.

CompTIA A+ or other IT certifications (Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician) preferred.

Preferred: experience with endpoint management tools (Intune, Jamf), knowledge of Active Directory, experience with IT asset management.
