Job Description

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for teaching at Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine as required. This position fulfills duties to further the mission of the department and College by participating in student education, student counseling, scholarly activities, and service. Faculty members are encouraged to conduct original research/scholarly activities and pursue extramural funding in their areas of interest.

Key Responsibilities:
Teaching & Curriculum Development
  • Develop and deliver pathology-related content in Biomedical Sciences courses.
  • Implement engaging, interactive, and technology-enhanced teaching methods.
  • Integrate clinical cases and real-world applications to reinforce learning.
  • Ensure that teaching aligns with osteopathic principles and modern medical education standards.
  • Stay current with advancements in pathology and update course content accordingly.
  • Develop assessments, including exam questions, quizzes, and case-based learning activities.
  • Provide academic support to students through office hours, mentoring, and study sessions.
Student Mentorship & Advising
  • Serve as a faculty advisor to students, guiding them in academic and professional development.
  • Participate in student organizations, interest groups, and other extracurricular activities.
  • Assist in student recruitment by conducting interviews and engaging with prospective students.
Research & Scholarly Activity
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publications, and presentations.
  • Mentor students in research projects, encouraging participation in conferences and publications.
  • Collaborate with faculty across departments to promote interdisciplinary research.
  • Seek extramural funding and participate in grant writing when applicable.
College & Community Service
  • Actively contribute to Noorda-COM’s committees and institutional initiatives.
  • Represent Noorda-COM at conferences, networking events, and outreach programs.
  • Assist with college events, including orientation, white coat ceremonies, and graduation.
  • Promote the college’s mission and values through service and community engagement.

     
Qualifications:

Education:
  • DO, MD or MD/PhD required with pathology anatomic/clinical residency or practice experience highly recommended (current practice/ licensure not required) US citizenship or permanent residency is required.
Experience:
  • Teaching: Candidates should have experience in teaching medical, allied health and/ or graduate students, preference will be given to those with experience specifically in an osteopathic program, and those with active learning experience. Histology and pathology microscopy experience (preferred). Clinical experience to integrate into systemic content.
  • Research: Demonstration of effective performance in research. Presenting posters or abstracts at local, state, or national conferences. Presenting lectures at local, state, or national conferences. Participating as a principal investigator or co-investigator in extramural research grants, contracts or training grants.
  • Evidence of effective, consistent mentoring of students, pre-doctoral fellows, post-graduate residents/fellows, and/or faculty-peers.
  • Service: Demonstration of involvement in intramural and/or extramural committee service including:
  • Consistent membership in multiple concurrent committees, working to advance or promote the mission and vision of the college or department.
  • Leadership role (chair, vice-chair, etc.) highly recommended but not required.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Highly professional with honest, genuine, direct communication style, excellent interpersonal skills and emotional maturity with the essential ability to demonstrate tact, discretion and job diplomacy towards supervisors, colleagues and administrative assistants/ staff. Significant understanding of higher education policies, practices and protocols. Proven track record of quality, integrity and trustworthiness.
