Job Responsibilities
Under Limited Supervision, The Public Health Educator (Men’s Health) Will Provide Leadership In Developing, Implementing, And Gaining Support For Community Driven Prevention Strategies Including Evidence-based And Best Practices To Enhance The Wellbeing Of Men And Their Families. This Position Will Provide Coordination Of Men’s Health Prevention Activities Utilizing a Policy, Systems, And Environmental Change Approach And a Health Equity Lens. This Position Participates In The Administration Of Program Grants, Contracts, And Budgets. Monitors Program Activities To Ensure Compliance Of State And Federal Program Guidelines. Manages And Coordinates Men’s Health Program And Activities At The Local Level (county-wide) Which Include Chronic Disease Prevention Activities Such As Tobacco Use Prevention, Physical Activity, Worksite Wellness, Cardiovascular Disease, Nutrition, Diabetes, And Other Men’s Health Related Topics. Implements And Manages The Men’s Health Initiative’s Operational Functions Including But Not Limited To Developing, Coordinating, And Monitoring
- Work plan detailing objectives, activities, timeframes, and budget requirements
- Semi-annual and annual reports and other reporting requirements
- Evaluates program initiatives
- Grants and other contractual requirements
- Resources to maintain and sustain initiative including additional partners and grants
- Supervising interns and/or volunteers
Identifies, develop and implements programs, strategies, and initiatives that are evidence-based strategies and best practices to address the growing burden of chronic diseases and associated risk factors; and other health issues identified as a priority by the community. Identifies the needs of the community through appropriate assessment tools such as focus groups, surveys, key informant interviews, etc. Convenes and coordinates a Men’s Health Leadership Task Force to create and sustain a partner-driven decision-making structure. Serves as liaison for the Men’s Health initiative to build and advance health equity through a collective and coordinated action approach. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years’ experience performing work related to public health, public policy, or health administration
OR Master’s degree in a related field and one year experience performing work related to area of assignment
OR Seven years’ experience performing work related to area of assignment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to applicants with a Master’s degree in health policy or public health; and community engagement or community outreach experience. Preference will also be given to candidates with program management, evaluation, and health equity experience.
