STATEMENT OF THE AGENCY:
Commonpoint is a multifaceted community center dedicated to sustaining and enhancing the quality of individual, family and communal life throughout New York City, offering services to people of all ages, ability levels, stages of life and backgrounds. They strive to meet the evolving needs of their community of over 100,000 members ranging from providing in-school and after-school programs, professional and career development, assistance with food insecurity, legal services, financial counseling, mental health services, senior classes, dementia care programs, and tax preparation assistance to name a few. Commonpoint has grown tremendously in the last five years and now has a mission-driven staff of 3,000 and over 80 sites in the five boroughs.

• Infant & Toddler Gym Teachers are key members of the Health & Wellness team and will report to the Senior Director of the Health & Wellness Department. 
• The primary responsibilities include teaching age-appropriate skills to Infants & Toddlers in a group setting. 
• Teachers should have experience in a “Gymboree” type of setting. 
• The teachers are expected to create a fun, nurturing, and educational environment with hands-on learning and lesson planning for children aged 6 months-5 years.
• Maintain supervision and care of each participant in the program. 
• Directly responsible for communicating to the Senior Director any class concerns. 
• Represent the Commonpoint in a positive light at all times.

SKILLS AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

• Experience working in a “Gymboree” type of setting;
• Experience working with Infants & Toddlers;
• Experience as a lead teacher or instructor;
• CPR/First Aid certification a plus;
• Communicate effectively with administration, parents, and children;
• Manage cleanliness of the gym space and the equipment;
• Effective verbal, listening, and written communication skills;
• Positive classroom management skills are a must. 

JOB DETAILS: 

• Days and Times: Mondays / Times can vary between 9:00 am-12:00 pm
• Salary: $40.00/45-minute class
• Location: Central Queens; 67-09 108th St. Forest Hills, NY 11375
