Position: Junior Software Engineer
Description:
As a Junior Software Engineer, Intelligence & Operations at Torch.AI, you will build and deploy software across Torch.AI’s platform capabilities for U.S. defense and national security programs.\n\rYou will work autonomously and collaboratively with product development teams, integrating elegant user experiences with robust back-end data processing capabilities.\n\rYour responsibilities will include implementing responsive designs, optimizing application performance, integrating with backend services and APIs, hardening and scaling platform tools, and introducing new features.\n\rYou will engage directly with customers to understand requirements and adapt to diverse, high-velocity project workflows, from developing new proof-of-concept solutions to refining deployed system performance.\n\rThe role emphasizes creativity, problem-solving, and delivering impact in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Requirements: B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field. \n\r1+ years of experience in software development.\n\rKnowledge of Java programming language.\n\rKnowledge of RESTful services, as well as JSON parsing and querying.\n\rFamiliarity with Big Data technologies and concepts, including processing and analyzing large-scale datasets.\n\rUnderstanding of NiFi concepts for data integration, flow management, and system interoperability.\n\rBasic familiarity with cloud storage and compute services, such as AWS S3 and EC2.\n\rInterest in defense industry or intelligence community.\n\rWillingness to learn new skills, collaborate with senior leads, and awareness of responsible AI practices.\n\rKnowledge of ETLs, APIs, IAM-focused security products, and understanding of the full Software Development Life Cycle is valued.\n\rKnowledge of Spark, Kafka, Parquet, and Airflow is a plus.\n\rExcellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and teamwork skills.\n\rMinimum Secret level security clearance preferred; sponsorship may be available.\n\rLimited travel (<10%).
