What To Expect
Tesla’s world-class Cell Manufacturing Engineering team is looking for a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineering Technician. This role will be involved in the development, commissioning and ramping of custom powder processing equipment, while working in a cross-functional team to test, validate, and roll-out process and product design changes. Cell mixing process is a critical component in Tesla cell manufacturing process. This role will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our products. The work environment is demanding, fast-paced and incredibly exciting. What You'll Do Support development, commissioning, and ramp of custom powder processing equipment. Perform equipment setup, operation, adjustments, and necessary maintenance tasks to meet safety, quality, and efficiency standards for equipment development and commissioning stagesWork collaboratively as the manufacturing equipment support to ensure production lines run in a safe, efficient manner producing high quality parts. Work closely with Manufacturing Engineers and suppliers to identify inline issues, potential solutions, and engineering improvements as they arise during development and commissioningDebug and optimize automated processes to reduce cycle times and maximize OEE. Troubleshoot and recovery processes using PLC, HMI, or tool management software, and implement changes/improvements. Provide hands-on support to operations and maintenance team to troubleshoot and resolve extended downtime situations. Identify equipment critical spare parts and ensure sufficient coverage to prevent extended downtime situations. Build operating procedures, training material, maintenance routines, and related documentation for equipment lifecycle managementAssemble and test manufactured goods for dedicated tooling and or processesConduct analytical tests, measure, record and interpret data using defined tools and softwareSupport safety and ergonomic improvements to production equipment which meets or exceeds regulations or best practices. Participate in supplier/internal equipment FAT and SATSupport FMEA / risk assessment activities to ensure design and manufacturing issues are identified and risks mitigated
What You'll Bring 3+ years of hands-on operational and technical experience with manufacturing equipment and knowledge of practices of root cause analysis and resolution pathways in a dynamic high-volume environmentMetal working, band saws, grinders, mill, lathe and such fabrication skills, knowledge of hand and power tools, pneumatic equipment Experience in low voltage systems, knowledge of electrical hazards including precautionary measures around spinning machinery. Ability to use basic electrical tools such as digital multi-meter, meg-ohm tester, thermocouple meters. Basic wiring knowledge, ability to connect sensors, power supplies, and data acquisition to test platformsAbility and passion to perform hands-on tasks and inspections. Possess good manual dexterity and visual acuity to perform delicate assembly and disassembly tasks. Ability to lift and sort parts of up to 20 pounds as neededAbility to use technological tools and business system applications to manage, synthesize, and interpret data. Excellent attention to detail, organization, structured thinking and problem-solving abilities following a data driven approach, statistical software a plusKnowledge, understanding and ramping equipment of Battery Cell technology a plus Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal

Expected Compensation
$24.40 - $56.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
