Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

The role will involve teaching undergraduate courses in various areas of chemistry, including but not limited to:

General chemistry
Introduction to organic and biochemistry
Survey of organic chemistry
Primary teaching responsibilities will focus on introductory and survey-level courses, with potential assignments in upper-division lectures and laboratory courses, depending on the candidate's area of expertise. Topics of particular interest include physical chemistry and biochemistry.

Additional responsibilities include:

Participating in departmental activities, particularly those related to the recruitment and retention of undergraduate chemistry majors.

Required Qualifications:

A Master's degree in Chemistry or a closely related field, or the equivalent (A.B.D.) by the position start date of August 15, 2025.
Required Skills:

Ability to design, organize, and implement teaching materials using modern technology in general chemistry and other introductory courses.
Capacity to maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized laboratory environment, with proper waste management and an up-to-date chemical inventory.
Proven ability to implement strategies for outreach, recruitment, retention, and mentoring of undergraduate chemistry majors.
Strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in Chemistry or a closely related field.
University-level teaching experience in any area of chemistry.
Demonstrated experience in managing and maintaining a chemical laboratory.

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs.
