Job Summary Under the leadership of the Assistant Director for Employee Relations and Benefits Services, primary responsibilities will include:
- Conduct impartial investigations of employee conduct and related concerns such as Title IX, Title VII, EEO, or other policy violations as assigned.
- Work with managers and staff to improve work relationships, positively impact morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- Facilitate efforts to maintain compliance with related legal and policy regulations.
- Assist with day-to-day activities within the Office of Human Resources associated with ADAAA, employee conduct, related training, and projects as assigned.
Responsibilities Advising - 20% Provide advice and counsel to campus leadership and front-line managers regarding HR practices, policy, coaching, counseling, and employment laws
Serve as a subject matter expert on applicable HR laws and policies including but not limited to ADAAA, FMLA, EEO, Title IX, Title VII
Use mediation methods to facilitate conflicts between employees, managers, and campus leadership to reduce workplace conflicts through advice and final recommendations
Review involuntary terminations to affirm consistency in application of policy and lawful practices
Provide recommendations for addressing conduct concerns that reflect patterns of behavior which contradict policy requirements and/or ethical standards; recommends appropriate referrals to members of the campus community (e.g. EAP, ADAAA, FMLA, etc.)
Program Management - 15% Work with managers and staff to improve work relationships, positively impact morale, and increase productivity and retention
At the direction of senior campus leadership and in consultation with HR leadership, provide guidance and input on restructures, workforce planning and succession planning
Track HR metrics such as employee turnover, employee relations concerns, and investigation trends for review by HR leadership
Create communication tools, training opportunities, and resource sites to proactively facilitate policy awareness, reduce employee relations conflicts, and increase positive employee engagement
Investigation - 40% Research and respond to employee relations issues, misconduct and harassment allegations
Conduct impartial investigations by independently developing and executing investigation plans to include interviews, summative reports, and recommended actions
Partners with appropriate campus partners to investigate/assist with discrimination allegations, behavioral concerns, and/or rapid response situations involving employees
Other - 5% Performs other applicable and related duties as assigned.
Compliance - 20% Create resources, provide training, and coordinate campus efforts to facilitate compliance with all state and federal laws, USG/BOR policies, GCSU policies and practices
Work with HR colleagues to track training completion data for HR related policies and facilitate reports for senior campus leadership
Work with HR leadership in policy preparation, revisions, and communication plans
Assist with HR related open records request in coordination with Legal Affairs
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Required Experience One year of direct demonstrated experience successfully conducting investigations and investigative reports; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications Additional Preferred Qualifications Relevant certification(s).
Preferred Educational Qualifications Master's Degree (in Social Work, Psychology or Forensic Psychology, Higher Education Administration or other relevant discipline)
Preferred Experience 1-3 years of HR experience, PHR, SPHR, SHRM or equivalent certification

KNOWLEDGE Clear understanding of Title VII developments, regulatory and enforcement guidance, and legislative initiatives
Working knowledge of employment law including, but not limited to, ADAAA, FLSA, FMLA, EEO, Title VII, etc.
SKILLS Strong presentation skills with an emphasis on education and training for a variety of constituencies. Strong prioritization, analytical, organizational and communication skills.
